Christmas Wishes

Wow the holidays just flew by! I'm sooo tired and glad it's over to be honest. I just get so stressed. It's because I'm OCD and can't handle the wrapping paper all over and the chaos and the disarray. I try to stay calm but the crazy gets the best of me at the end of the day for sure. But we did have a great time. Other than my kids and husband with snotty noses and gross coughs and me trying my best at fighting off a cold (and I did good) it was awesome (no sarcasm included). Here are some pics of the festivities.

I got these chairs for them, I think they are super cute. Apparently I think they are way cooler than them. Well I guess they like them. Braedyn talks about it once in a while. I guess I was just expecting a bigger reaction.

Grandma made superhero capes for the kids. They loved them.
Braedyn helped make Christmas morning pancakes, she likes to make "baby pancakes"

Nixon trying to get the Christmas tree! She eats everything!

Relieved!

So Jason and I are in Laughlin at a Regional meeting for In-N-Out. Everyone who knows, knows that I have been stressing and dreading this trip only because of my little breastfeeding, won't take the bottle or sippy for anything baby. So I tried for 2 days to only pump and get her to take something so I would be stress-free on my trip knowing that she wasn't going to starve. I know everyone said "She'll be fine" but it still makes me nervous. And before I had kids, listening to my friends who had kids complain and worry about leaving there own kids (breastfeeding or not) I thought they were overreacting and would say "they'll be fine". Well now I know. So anyway, getting back to the won't take a bottle baby, even from Jason I might add....Jason's parents are staying at our house with the girls and "won't take a bottle baby" apparently doesn't have a problem taking a bottle from Grandma Carol. They are awesome I must say! No tantrums from Braedyn, no fighting the bottle, makes me feel kinda inadequate as a mother. How come they won't do that for me. They always act better for other people right? Right? Oh well regardless of that I feel at ease that my little girls are happy and having fun and eating with Grandma and Grandpa. And I can actually sleep in and have fun and do things with just my husband for a change. It's kinda nice! So thanks to everyone who reassured me and tried to make me feel better about leaving - you were right. And especially thanks to Grandma and Grandpa!

Turkey Day

Jason and I took the girls and drove to Fairfield, Ca. For those of you who have never heard of it, it's up north right between Sacramento and San Francisco. Jason's sister Julie and her husband Alex have a brand new beautiful home that we stayed at. There were 12 adults and 6 kids (including her brand new 3 day old baby girl) It was an adventure to say the least but it was nice to be with family and visit and the kids had so much fun together. Any trip with Braedyn is an adventure. She always throws something our way. She always has trouble sleeping too. She did okay considering. I always tell myself it could be worse. Oh and one night she threw one of her famous tantrums until she threw up all over the floor (tile thankfully). Sorry about that Julie! But we had a wonderful time all in all. Thanks Julie and Alex for having us and enduring the chaos! We love you......& Daniel & Caytlyn!

What's in your purse?

So I realized that I have weird things in my purse tonight. I mean I've always known but it's kinda funny. So I, well actually it was Sara's idea, thought it would be fun to share. So here it goes:

Eye drops, lipstick, chap stick & 2 lip glosses. 55spf sunblock, a miniature bottle of Tabasco, bobbie pins, lactaid pills (for Jason) nail clippers, Halls, Altoids cinnamon strips, sudafed pe (the fake stuff), gum, hand lotion, a tide-to-go pin, sunglasses, a wallet, a coin purse, el pollo loco hand wipes, a couple pens, keys of course, my phone, teething tablets, more bobbie pins, a Braedyn hair barrette, an alcohol prop pad, 2 taco bell mild sauces, a walmart receipt, bath and body works hand sanitizer (midnight pomegranate yummy!), an ear piece for my phone, a window shades sample, a small notebook, & a phone list of all my numbers off my old cell phone. Ohh and a rolled up used band aid, gross!

Okay now it's your turn!

Turbo Kick-UR-Booty

As some of you may or may not have known, I taught a free class for Lululemon Athletic Store at the Shoppes in Chino Hills. It was a blast and for those of you who missed it......you really missed out! My fellow instructor Maia and I had a great time. I felt like I was teaching a class at my house to all my friends, it was so laid back and we had some good laughs too! I would like to thank everyone who did come out and especially Teammate - thanks for watching the kids, I couldn't have done it without you - and I want to give a special shout out to my own personal cheerleader BRAEDYN! She was my personal groupie shouting my name "Mommy!" and throwing herself at me during the break, showering me with kisses and hugs. I wish I could take her to all my classes. And now for my shameless plug: "Come one come all to 24 Hour Fitness, Chino Hills, Monday nights at 7:30pm and Tuesday's at 5:30pm....TKB Baby!"

Halloween

Alice in Wonderland & the White Rabbit.

I know we are well into November approaching turkey day rapidly but it's better late than never to report on our Halloween festivities. We had a great time at the Jorgenson's, thanks for putting that together guys it was a blast! We ate, went trick-or-treating, the kids ran amok in the backyard, jumped on the trampoline and watched a movie they had set up in the backyard on a huge projector screen. Braedyn threw a huge tantrum when we had to leave, that's how much fun it was. Braedyn wasn't sure what to do at first but after a couple houses she had it down and kept saying, "next house, next house". She didn't want to stop.

Best Friends Forever

As some of you may have experienced, my little Braedyn has a large vocabulary and talks non-stop. Sometimes it's definitely annoying-put a cork in it sister-and then sometimes she amazes me at the things she says and thinks. So yesterday we were driving to my moms so she could watch the girls while I taught my class at the gym and Jason went to hang door knockers. Braedyn and Nixon are in the back with Nixon's car seat right next to Braedyn. They both like to be next to each other. Braedyn always tries to hold Nixons hand and sometimes gets frustrated when Nixon pulls her hand away, mostly because she still moves them constantly as babies do cause they can't really control their movement totally yet.

So Braedyn says: "Mommy, Nixon my best friend"
Mommy: "That's great honey, I'm so glad"
Braedyn: "Nixon cute!"

She can be a crazy terror but she can also be so sweet. I'm definitely going to make a mental note of this so that someday when the girls are fighting and they think they hate each other I can remind her that she said they were best friends and she loves her sister.

Nixon Rocks!

Look what I can do guys! She's so close...any day now. I'm sure there will be many mini fights going on soon when Nixon can go steal Braedyn's toys. I love that smile!

Pumpkin Carving

Thanks Ann Marie and Jason for the fun evening. A few of us got together so the kids could carve pumpkins. Do you see the kids carving the pumpkins, look harder, well some might consider our husbands kids. Even if the kids weren't that into it, they liked the finished product. Great job guys and gals. Jason cut the top off our pumkin, Braedyn took one look inside and said "Eww, gross" and ran away. What a prissy girl.

Nixon liked it!

See, she liked the finished product, it's a cat.

Potty Training?

Okay so I'm really getting tired of the poop and the stink and the diapers piled higher and higher. I always say I have to deal with way to much crap! It's the truth. So I had bought Braedyn a potty, no a throne when she was younger, prematurely I'm sure. I decided that it was way to fun, to distracting. Could you imagine if our potty's played music every time you flushed and sang to you and you could play on it. I might not focus on the task at hand either. Anyways it got returned and I bought a different one. This one way more practical, still premature but the hole where her bum is supposed to go, so small. Maybe that's normal but it was weird. I don't know I just returned that one too cause she's not afraid of the toilet and I wasn't ready so whatever. So fast forward to current day, I bought another one, tired of the crap remember. It's simple but pink and a little fun. I thought I'd get it out just for fun. Today she runs into the bathroom, "poo poo on the potty, poo poo on the potty" I just ignored her cause I was on the phone. Well she really did go but in her diaper. I felt bad, she was trying to tell me. But wait there's more, no really more poo poo! She sat down and actually pushed some out. I love how she has to watch, wish it was that exciting for me! Anyways this could be a leap for Braedyn kind. I just don't know if I'm up for it on my end. I need to just do it. Don't worry I'll keep you updated on the crap!

Newman, Ca

We went and visited Great Grandma Ann and Great Grandpa Lewis (Braedyn's Great Grandparents) in Newman, Ca. That's right Newman, just look it up. Corona actually reminds me a lot of Newman, cow smell, vast open land. It was like a home away from home. When I was younger it was so farmy, now not so much. We had such a nice visit though and the girls did great in the car! There's not a lot of kids Braedyn's age but she did get to play with Quinn, my cousin Keena's daughter one night. So let's see that makes them second cousins? Cousins once removed? Hmmm it's so confusing. Anyway she had lots of fun, I hope Quinn did too.

So we finally return to the happiest place on earth and on the happiest day of the year, my birthday. Yep I'm a year older, how old, well that's nobody's business really. My little brother, he's so awesome, I like the way he put it "oldest and yet somehow youngest looking of us all." Thanks little brother, you're the bestest bighead! So on my birthday we went to Disneyland and we had a great time. It was the first time with 2 kids and Jason was able to take the day off and come too or else I might not have survived the whole day. I'm working up the courage to take the girls by myself, that's another adventure for another day. Julie, Daniel and Brandon came too. We had a good time. Braedyn loved it but was scared of all the loud noises as usual. She had her hands over her ears most of the time on every ride and during the fireworks. Nixon was crazy! She is so nosy that she only slept all of 1 hour the whole day. She usually takes like two 2 hour naps a day and goes to sleep at 7:30pm. We didn't leave until 10pm and she was still ticking. Silly Nix!

It's cold!

Okay so last night it was like 68 degrees in our house. That's the coldest it's ever been thus far here in Corona, for us. Brr. I guess summer is officially over and fall is coming in. I'm looking out the window right now at Jason's plumeria's all dumped over from the wind. Oh well! I'm sure they will survive. All I'm worried about is how dirty everything is getting from all that dust. I hate the dust!

So I always say "I deal with way too much crap!" You know literally. I'm sure all you mom's know what I mean. (Or bodily fluids) So yesterday we were going to Great Grandma's surprise party in Long Beach and we are all dressed fairly nice and I wanted it to stay that way. Braedyn and Nixon have had a cough, a yucky cough and when kids can't spit or hack they throw up as some of you may know. So Braedyn starts coughing and gagging and I'm thinking, "oh great, all over the dress and the car seat and the car". So I grab a beach towel that happens to be in the back of the car, (does the policeman understand and give you a break when you are climbing over the seat to grab the towel to prevent the barf on the freeway?) and cover Braedyn's dress and grab a wipe. I'm so ready to go and she gags and I put my hand out, why do we do that? Anyways, I should have been a catcher cause she throws up right in my hand in the wipe and that was it! I felt so good about my mad mother abilities! So crisis averted. We had a good time.

Protect Marriage: Vote Yes on Prop 8.

"Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God ... the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children."

We, as residents of California, must protect the erosion of this divinely appointed institution. We have already voiced our opinion once on this matter and through Proposition 8 seek to do so again: "Proposition 8 places into the California Constitution the same language that voters already passed by 61% of the vote in 2000. This is necessary to overturn an outrageous California Supreme Court decision that overturned Proposition 22." - http://protectmarriage.com/about

Four individuals decided that their opinion was superior to that of the majority of Californians. Proposition 8 is necessary at this time to rebuke those arrogant judges and protect the meaning of marriage.

Proposition 8 does nothing to diminish the rights of homosexuals. "As of 2007, California affords domestic partnerships all of the same rights and responsibilities as marriages under state law (Cal. Fam. Code §297.5)." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_partnership_in_California

Rather, Proposition 8 seeks to sustain as law our societal belief that marriage means something. Through this proposition we seek to support the institution which represents the ideal environment in which for children to be reared.

The entire text of the Proposition reads: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” Because four activist judges in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people’s vote, we need to pass this measure as a constitutional amendment to restore the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman.

Too Fast!

It seems like it was just yesterday that Braedyn was a little baby and now my little girl is a toddler going on 16, yikes!

And then there is Nixon, my sweet little girl, almost 6 months. It seems like it's going even faster this time.

All our lives we try to hurry time, hurry and grow up, hurry and get married, hurry and have kids, hurry and teach them to crawl, talk, walk......and then it's WAIT! slow down. I know, someday they will be in a hurry too and I can only hope that they take my advice and enjoy the time they have to be young, to be married with no kids (remember that) and enjoy those little babies!

Jason's Protege

Okay don't think for one second that I would let my daughter actually do this! This is the work of her father being funny. It's amazing what photoshop can do. She does look cute though, you have to admit. Maybe we could send it in to the NRA or CRPA and she could be their poster child. Can we receive royalties for that?

The Invisible Mother

I wanted to share this email that my friend sent me. Sometimes I find myself thinking this way, slipping into invisibility. It made me feel good and I wanted to share:

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask me a question. Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't you see I'm on the phone?' Obviously, not. No one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all. I'm invisible. The invisible Mom. Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this? Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, 'What time is it?' I'm a satellite guide to answer, 'What number is the Disney Channel?' I'm a car to order, 'Right around 5:30, please.' I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated suma cum laude - but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again. She's going, going, gone! One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England . Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, 'I brought you this.' It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe . I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it to me until I read her inscription: 'To Charlotte , with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees.' In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could pattern my work: No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we have no record of their names. These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished. They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything. A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, 'Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof? No one will ever see it.' And the workman replied, 'Because God sees.' I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, 'I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does. No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake you've baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are building a great cathedral, but you can't see right now what it will become.' At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride. I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree. When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, 'My Mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for three hours and presses all the linens for the table.' That would mean I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add, 'you're gonna love it there.' As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women. Great Job, MOM!

Sleeping Dumb!

Okay so Braedyn has been watching Sleeping Beauty for a week straight now, it's the new movie of the week, and something about this movie has really been bothering me. Now before you get all crazy and offended let me just say it is my favorite disney princess movie because I love me some Malieicent, she is a bad motha! And Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Princess. So the bugging me part...Maleficent says that before the sun sets on her 16th birthday she be pricked and die blah, blah! So my question, the issue at hand is how dumb are those fairies and the king and queen who had this brilliant, grand idea of hiding her until the day of her birthday and then bringing her back just in time for the prophecy to happen. They should have keep her around so she could enjoy her childhood with her parents and then she could have hid that day until the next day and then come back, they could have had a late birthday celebration. I know, I know then the movie wouldn't have a premise that's just the way it works right. Well i just think its dumb and I just had to get that out of my system, but I still love it.

Petting Zoo

My friend Ann Marie, who is awesome by the way, well her husband works for a Nursing Home and they had a little carnival type shindig. Anyways, they had a petting zoo and it was a hit with the girls, Braedyn and her daughter Kyla. Kyla attacked the animals head on. Braedyn was a little more cautious, very excited but not sure about touching them. She really liked the chicken! At one point she was looking at the bunnies in the cart and didn't notice that the thing bumping her from the side was the donkey. I said "Braedyn look what's behind you!" She turns and her look was priceless! Her eyes got so big and her mouth wide open. She said something like oh man or oh gosh. She is so funny that girl.

Birthday Buddies

Norman and Nixon were born on the same day. They are birthday buddies for life. Katherine's boys have always been so helpful with my girls, all the girl cousins for that matter. I guess when you are surrounded by boys, girls are a novelty. Anyway, Norman is so cute, he loves that he has a birthday buddy. I asked him once how he liked it and he says "I don't know yet, I've never had a birthday buddy before." Well Norman you are doing a fine job!

Dinner Party

Jason and I enjoy spending time with our family. Recently we went and visited some very important people, Great Grandma and Uncle Bob. We took dinner out to Great Grandma's house and Jason went with Braedyn to pick up Uncle Bob. We had a delicious dinner together and got to visit. It was a very nice time. The kids enjoy spending time with them and I know they enjoy spending time with the girls.
